An Afternoon at the Farm...

We spent last Wednesday afternoon at Collard Farms in Oronogo, just north of town.  The local Parents as Teachers group organized a preschoolers' day out at the farm! The farm is owned by a member of the Webb City school board, Dave Collard.  The kids were really looking forward to seeing cows and chickens. 

The weather was perfect for the trip!  The first thing that we heard as we walked toward the farm were the LOUD moos of the cows.  There were lots of calves in the pen with their mothers and the "mommy cows" definitely made it known that they were not very excited about all of us peering in at their babies.  Grayson, who is famous for being pretty obsessed with cows, was a little nervous about the cows and how noisy they were.  So we moved on. :)

We got to see some ducklings and chicks, as well as a few horses.  But, I think that the highlight of Grayson's afternoon was sitting on the different pieces of farm equipment.  He tried out a Gator (quite a bit bigger than his toddler-sized Gator), a huge John Deere tractor, and a smaller Kubota tractor.  He was in heaven. :)  After trying out all of the equipment, Farmer Dave showed Grayson how to take a drink out of the spigot - is that even the right word??
